Each year, we host the OUF at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. In our planning process, one of our top priorities is to secure a date that does not coincide with any religious holidays.
Unfortunately, this year, and despite our best efforts, the only viable date to hold the OUF is the weekend of September 18-20, 2020. We recognize that this decision has a significant impact on the Jewish community.
As a result, we have worked closely with the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs to identify ways to accommodate Jewish students and their families, and to ensure they are able to participate in the OUF or one of our other postsecondary events.
To that end, the OUF will open 2 hours earlier than usual, at 8 am, on Friday, September 18, to allow for an extended amount of time to attend before Rosh Hashanah begins. There is also a Postsecondary Information Event, which will provide another opportunity for students to speak with representatives from Ontario’s universities. This event will take place Thursday, November 5, at Maple High School in Vaughan from 7-9 pm.
We apologize for this unfortunate situation and will make every effort to avoid this from happening again in the future.
